New Wicket Set To Bring Back Old Faces

The arrival of our new cricket wicket is set to host a memorable opening in June.  The wicket, which was only available through the efforts of the Friends of Wolgarston, whose fund-raising activities raised money for this facility, will be used in a fun packed day that will see the return of ex-Wolgarston pupils to participate in the opening match.

And Year 10 Go Marching ON ON ON!

You have already read about Wolgarston's county cup winning under 19's football team, but there are other success' in the schools football season.

Year 9 have played a number of fixtures both home and away, collecting a promising set of results.  A number of players have got their names on the score sheet, but David Small is lead scorer at the moment with seven goals so far this season.

A most formidable record has been set by our under 15 team this year.  Out of six fixture's, their worst result has been a one all draw with Wolverhampton Grammar school, scoring a tremendous 17 goals since September.

Year 11 have only lost once this season, unfortunately ending their County Cup run.  James Bissell is top scorer, netting 11 out of the 14 goals this season.

With such an impressive set of football players in Wolgarston at the moment, it will not be long before more success comes our way.

Victorious County Cup Winners Retire From National Competition

Wolgarston Sixth Form football team had their hopes dashed recently, when after an impressive victory in the County Cup, they lost out to Chester Kingsway in the National Cup.  Despite weekly training sessions, the willingness to work hard and the potential to succeed, they came up against a very strong Kingsway team who beat them 6-2.  However unfortunate this result was, it cannot tarnish the team's already very impressive record in the previous rounds of the County Cup, in

which they shone beating Belgrave High School, Painsley, Deferres and then Ounsdale

2-0 in the County Cup final, played at Rowley Park.

And Now For Something Completely Different….

Well no, not that different at all, but did you know that a basketball team made up of present and past members of Wolgarston High School has only been beaten once this year?  Losing out in the Staffordshire League County Cup has been the only slump in form, they have run the rest of Staffordshire's male basketball teams ragged.  Further information about the team can be gained from Mr Haines.
